Did You Know? The Milky Way Smells Like Rum and Raspberries!

The Milky Way Smells Like Rum! 🫐
This is one of the strangest space facts ever: the center of our Milky Way galaxy contains a chemical called ethyl formate, which smells like rum and tastes like raspberries!
Astronomers using the IRAM telescope in Spain discovered billions of these molecules floating in a giant dust cloud called Sagittarius B2, near the center of our galaxy. Of course, you couldn’t actually smell it because, well, space!
Galaxy Art Time 🎨
Draw a swirling Milky Way with tiny raspberries and rum bottles floating through it! Ask your kids: “If outer space had a flavor, what would you want it to taste like?”
Fun fact bonus: Our galaxy is called the “Milky Way” because ancient Greeks thought it looked like spilled milk across the sky. In Spanish, it’s “Vía Láctea” — milky road! 🥛
